Málaga's old prison becomes film set for Disney's Far Cry series
The former Málaga Provincial Prison has been converted into a film set for a new FX and Hulu series based on the Far Cry video game franchise. The production involves approximately 350 crew members and includes scheduled controlled explosions and detonations to film action sequences.
To manage the impact on the local neighborhood, production teams are using a three-tone acoustic signal to warn residents before blasts. Local residents have also been notified via letters regarding the filming schedule. The production will involve dense smoke and authorized drone flights over the site.
The anthology series, co-created by Rob Mac and Noah Hawley, features a rotating cast and setting for each season. The cast includes Steve Buscemi and Lizzy Caplan. The series is produced for FX and Hulu in the United States and will be available on Disney+ in other regions, including Spain.
