MLB All-Star roster includes injured stars Skenes, Misiorowski, Ohtani and others

The 2024 MLB All-Star Game in Philadelphia will feature several nominees who may miss their mound appearances due to upcoming starts and injuries. Pittsburgh pitcher Paul Skenes, Milwaukee rookie Jacob Misiorowski and Los Angeles Dodgers two‑way star Shohei Ohtani are all listed as potential absentees because of scheduled weekend starts and a right‑biceps issue, respectively. Angels outfielder Mike Trout earned his 12th All‑Star selection, his first since 2023, while Yankees’ Aaron Judge will sit out with a broken rib.

Four Dodgers—Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy, Andy Pages and Ohtani (as designated hitter)—were voted into the National League starting lineup, marking the first time the club has had five or more starters since 1980. World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto also made the NL pitching staff. The American League saw Toronto’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr. skip the game to rest a back injury, and the host Phillies contributed five All‑Stars, including Bryce Harper and Jhoan Duran. In total, 64 players were chosen, with 26 first‑timers and four rookies among them.
