Major League Baseball releases 2026 postseason schedule

Major League Baseball has released the official schedule for the 2026 postseason. The playoffs will begin with the Wild Card Series on September 29, featuring best-of-three matchups for eight teams.

The Division Series are scheduled to start on October 3. Following this, the League Championship Series will commence on October 11 for the National League and October 12 for the American League. The 2026 World Series is set to begin on Friday, October 23, using a 2-3-2 format. If a seventh game is required, it is scheduled for October 31.

As the regular season nears its conclusion, the playoff race remains competitive. In the American League, the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox are currently leading the Wild Card standings. In the National League, the Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies, and Arizona Diamondbacks are among the teams contending for postseason berths.
