MLB announces umpire crew chiefs for Wild Card Series
Major League Baseball has announced the umpire crew chiefs for the upcoming Wild Card Series. Jordan Baker, Bill Miller, Alan Porter, and Mark Wegner will serve as the crew chiefs for the week.
According to MLB, all crew chiefs will be positioned at third base for the opening games and will not work behind the plate during this best-of-three round. Bill Miller will be participating in his eighth wild-card round, while Baker, Porter, and Wegner will be working their sixth. Additionally, Paul Clemons, Emil Jiménez, Alex MacKay, Charlie Ramos, and Clint Vondrak are set to umpire postseason games for the first time.
The rotation for the series dictates that umpires move from right field to left and then clockwise around the bases starting at third. This ensures that an umpire positioned at second base during the opener will serve behind the plate for a potential third game in the series.
