MLB: De La Cruz misses perfect game while Li Hao-yu sets Taiwanese records

In Major League Baseball action, pitcher Bryan De La Cruz nearly achieved a perfect game, striking out the first five batters he faced and maintaining a perfect game through five innings. His bid for history ended in the sixth inning when Cole Young hit an infield single. Despite recording 12 strikeouts and allowing only one hit over six innings, De La Cruz did not receive a win after the bullpen surrendered four runs, leading to a 3-4 loss.

Meanwhile, Li Hao-yu of the Detroit Tigers delivered a standout performance, breaking several records for Taiwanese players in the MLB. After a recent slump, Li recorded three extra-base hits and three RBIs in a game against the Rockies, helping the Tigers secure an 11-7 comeback victory. With this performance, Li surpassed Chang Yu-cheng’s 2021 records for both single-season RBIs (40) and doubles (15) by a Taiwanese player in the major leagues. He also became the first Taiwanese player to record three extra-base hits in a single game.
