Chicago White Sox defeat Cleveland Guardians 3-0 in ALDS Game 1
The Chicago White Sox took a 1-0 lead in the American League Division Series after defeating the Cleveland Guardians 3-0 in Game 1 at Progressive Field.
Munetaka Murakami provided the decisive offensive spark in the fourth inning with a two-run, 440-foot home run off rookie Parker Messick. Colson Montgomery later added an RBI double in the seventh inning to extend the lead.
The White Sox victory was anchored by a dominant bullpen performance. Five different pitchers combined to hold the Guardians to just three hits and 12 strikeouts. Starter Hagen Smith retired the first eight batters before being replaced by Bryan Hudson, who earned the win. Grant Taylor secured the save by pitching four scoreless innings, allowing only two hits and striking out six.
