BBWAA announces 2026 Major League Baseball award finalists

The Baseball Writers' Association of America (BBWAA) has announced the finalists for the 2026 Major League Baseball season awards. The announcement, made via MLB Network, includes the top three vote-getters for five major categories across both the American and National Leagues.

In the American League, Yordan Alvarez of the Houston Astros is a leading candidate for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, alongside Junior Caminero of the Tampa Bay Rays and Bobby Witt Jr. of the Kansas City Royals. The Cy Young Award finalists for the American League include Cam Schlittler, Dylan Cease, and Parker Messick.

In the National League, Pete Crow-Armstrong of the Chicago Cubs, Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and Brice Turang of the Milwaukee Brewers are finalists for the MVP. The Cy Young finalists include Jacob Misiorowski, Chris Sale, and Cristopher Sánchez. The Rookie of the Year and Manager of the Year categories also feature several prominent names.

Notably, 2026 marks the introduction of the Reliever of the Year award, which will be voted on by BBWAA writers for the first time. Winners for all categories are scheduled to be revealed during the week of November 9, starting with the Rookie of the Year.

These announcements coincide with the start of the MLB offseason, which faces potential uncertainty due to upcoming labor negotiations and the expiration of the current collective bargaining agreement on December 1.
