MLB explores hosting game in Grand Teton National Park
Major League Baseball (MLB) has approached the federal government regarding the possibility of hosting a regular-season game in Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park. The proposal has encountered immediate resistance from environmental groups and other critics.
An MLB official confirmed the league inquired with the administration about the feasibility of hosting a game within a national park, noting it is one of several ideas being explored. A White House official clarified that while MLB made the inquiry, the idea was not a presidential directive and was not driven by the administration. The National Park Service has not issued any permits for such an event.
This move follows a trend of MLB and the players’ association staging special event games outside of traditional ballparks, such as the “Field of Dreams” games in Iowa, games in Birmingham, Alabama, and Bristol, Tennessee. The league has also conducted international games in locations including London, Mexico City, Seoul, and Tokyo.
