MLB notified of gender violence allegations against pitcher Yaramil Hiraldo
Major League Baseball (MLB) has received an extrajudicial notification regarding allegations of gender-based violence involving pitcher Yaramil Hiraldo. The notification, sent via attorneys representing Dominga Furcal, requests the preservation of all documents, communications, and electronic records relevant to the case.
The legal documentation references a provisional protection measure issued by the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services in the Santiago Judicial District, where Furcal is listed as a protected person and Hiraldo Jiménez is identified as the subject of the measure. The notice also cites a May 2021 appearance before the Gender, Sexual, and Family Violence Care Unit in Santiago, involving allegations of verbal and psychological aggression, as well as threats.
While the notification notes that these proceedings do not constitute a definitive declaration of guilt, MLB maintains established policies and procedures for investigating allegations of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse involving professional baseball personnel. Such investigations can lead to disciplinary actions by the Commissioner’s Office.
