MLB pitcher Paul Skenes visits Japan and U.S. Navy base

Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes visited a U.S. Navy base in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, alongside his partner, influencer Olivia Dunne. During the visit, Skenes interacted with U.S. service members and their families, observed training exercises, and delivered a speech. Skenes, who played at the U.S. Air Force Academy for two years before attending Louisiana State University, described the visit as a way to give back, stating, “I have received so much from the U.S. military. What they have given me is far greater than anything I could ever give to the Air Force.”

While in Japan, Skenes also participated in an MLB-hosted baseball clinic in Tokyo, providing coaching to approximately 50 young pitchers. He expressed high praise for the country, noting the cleanliness and the quality of the food, specifically mentioning sushi and Wagyu beef. Dunne also shared her experiences in Japan, including a visit to Asakusa, with her large social media following.
