MLB pitchers return to action following Tommy John surgery

Several pitchers are returning to Major League Baseball action following lengthy recoveries from Tommy John surgery.

Jackson Jobe, a right-hander for the Detroit Tigers, has begun his return to the mound after nearly 15 months of rehabilitation. Following his initial start against the Giants on August 8, Jobe experienced mixed results, including a difficult outing against the White Sox and a more controlled performance against the Pittsburgh Pirates where he allowed one earned run over 5.1 innings. Analysts note that while his raw ability remains, he continues to work on pitch consistency and developing his swing-and-miss capabilities.

Similarly, Mason Adams is set to make his Major League debut with the Colorado Rockies. After undergoing Tommy John surgery in April 2025, which sidelined him for over a year, Adams worked his way through the White Sox organization before being acquired by Colorado at the August 3 trade deadline. He is expected to start against the Washington Nationals following three starts with Triple-A Albuquerque.
