Cincinnati Reds claim right‑hander Ron Marinaccio and Chase Selesky off waivers
The Cincinnati Reds added right‑handed relievers Ron Marinaccio and Chase Selesky after both were placed on waivers. The move also opened a 40‑man roster spot by moving outfielder Blake Dunn to the 60‑day injured list.
Marinaccio, 31, had been designated for assignment by the Pittsburgh Pirates after the Pirates acquired him from the San Diego Padres for $500,000 of international signing‑bonus pool space. He posted a 0‑0 record with a 6.75 ERA in 5 1/3 innings for Pittsburgh this season. Over his career he is 7‑5 with a 3.60 ERA in 145 relief appearances for the New York Yankees, Padres and Pirates.
Selesky, 28, was recently designated for assignment by the Tampa Bay Rays. He made his major‑league debut on May 18, allowing two runs in three innings. In Triple‑A Durham he is 5‑6 with a 6.79 ERA in 23 games (seven starts).
