MLB rookies Ángel Genao and Jefry Yan make notable debuts

Major League Baseball saw notable debuts on Wednesday, August 6, featuring record-breaking performances and viral celebrations.

Cleveland Guardians prospect Ángel Genao made history during his MLB debut. The 22-year-old Dominican player recorded four hits in a 6-5 loss against the New York Mets. Genao became the first player in Cleveland franchise history to record four hits in a debut, surpassing the previous record of three. He is only the 22nd player to achieve four or more hits in a debut since 1900.

On the opposing side, New York Mets rookie pitcher Jefry Yan also made his debut, contributing to a 6-5 victory. Yan pitched a scoreless inning and recorded two strikeouts. His energetic and unique celebrations following strikeouts have quickly gained viral attention across social media and within the league.
