MLB stars Lindor, Senga and De La Cruz poised for returns from injury
Shortstop Francisco Lindor has begun running bases at shortstop as part of his calf‑strain rehab and could be back with the New York Mets by the third week of June, with team officials hoping for a return before the end of the month. The Mets, struggling early in the season, view his comeback as a key boost to their lineup.
Pitcher Kodai Senga is set to be activated from the injured list on Tuesday and start for the Mets, filling the spot left by right‑hander Christian Scott, who was placed on the 15‑day IL with a hip impingement. Senga, who has dealt with lumbar spine inflammation, said he feels 100 % ready. The Mets also moved first baseman Jorge Polanco to the 60‑day IL.
Cincinnati Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz, on the IL since June 1 with a strained right hamstring, may begin a minor‑league rehab assignment this weekend before being activated. De La Cruz had been hitting .280 with 12 home runs before his injury, and the Reds hope his return can help reverse a recent slump.
