MLB stars Rafael Devers and Willson Contreras reach milestones in 2026 season

San Francisco Giants first baseman/designated hitter Rafael Devers was named ESPN Digital’s Dominican of the Week for the 13th edition of the award, his second honor this season. Over five games he posted a .389 batting average, .500 on‑base percentage, 1.056 slugging and a 1.556 OPS, hitting four home runs, driving in four runs and scoring five times. His performance pushed him to 18 homers on the season, and together with teammate Casey Schmitt the pair became the first Giants duo since 2000 to each reach at least 17 home runs in the first 90 games.

Eury Pérez, the Miami Marlins starter, also earned the award after delivering seven perfect innings with eight strikeouts against the Athletics, compiling a 0.73 ERA, 0.49 WHIP and 16 strikeouts over 12.1 innings in two starts.

Boston Red Sox catcher Willson Contreras hit his 20th home run of the 2026 season, marking back‑to‑back nights of power after a 19th‑homer game versus the Los Angeles Angels. The Venezuelan’s surge brings his career total to 192 homers, just eight shy of the 200‑homer milestone.
