MLB teams prepare for 2027 season roster shifts

Major League Baseball teams are navigating roster transitions and personal milestones as they look toward the 2027 season. The Pittsburgh Pirates face significant personnel decisions, including whether to offer a contract to catcher Endy Rodríguez through arbitration following a season limited by injury. The Pirates are also evaluating prospects like left-handed pitcher Connor Wietgrefe, who could potentially challenge for a starting role in 2027.

Outfielder Jake Mangum, who provided depth for the Pirates during the 2026 season, recently announced his engagement to Baylor Bounds.

Meanwhile, the Colorado Rockies are shifting their organizational approach. The front office is expected to hold a press conference to address roster construction and accountability following the 2026 season, with discussions focusing on potential trades and positional shifts, such as moving Charlie Condon to designated hitter to maximize playing time.
