MLB teams prepare for offseason roster and managerial changes

Major League Baseball teams are beginning preparations for the upcoming offseason. The Philadelphia Phillies are expected to name Don Mattingly as their full-time manager for the 2027 campaign. Mattingly, who served as interim manager during a season in which the team posted a 79-55 record, is reportedly the preferred choice after Alex Cora declined to manage in 2027.

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Royals are evaluating their 40-man roster ahead of the anticipated December 1 lockout. The team must manage roster spots due to players returning from the 60-day injured list and decisions regarding free agents and non-tenders. The Royals also face the necessity of protecting prospects from the Rule 5 Draft.
