MLB Teams Sign Relievers to Minor League Deals

The Cleveland Guardians signed veteran left‑handed reliever Ryan Borucki to a minor‑league contract. Borucki, 32, has appeared in parts of nine major‑league seasons, posting a career 4.34 ERA and a 4.94 ERA in 23 2/3 innings with the San Francisco Giants before being released. The deal gives Cleveland additional left‑handed depth, though the pitcher is unlikely to join the big‑league bullpen soon after a recent layoff.

The New York Mets selected right‑handed pitcher Kevin Herget from Triple‑A Syracuse after opening a roster spot following a trade. Herget, 35, has pitched in four major‑league seasons with a 4.20 ERA and a 3.00 ERA in limited 2025 action for the Mets. He is healthy after a stint on the minor‑league injured list and provides the Mets with a right‑handed option for their bullpen.

Both moves reflect the teams’ efforts to add experienced arms to their minor‑league rosters as they approach the trade‑deadline.
