MLB updates iPhone app with Live Activities and CarPlay enhancements

Major League Baseball (MLB) has updated its official iPhone application to enhance how fans track games through Apple’s Live Activities and CarPlay features.

Users can now activate Live Activities for any game on the MLB schedule, rather than being limited to their favorite teams. By selecting the new ‘Track’ button on a game’s Gameday page, fans can view real-time scores and updates directly on their lock screen or within the Dynamic Island on compatible iPhones. This allows for easier monitoring of multiple simultaneous games without needing to constantly reopen the app.

The update also improves the MLB experience on CarPlay. Drivers can now browse live and upcoming games directly through the vehicle's interface and select specific team radio broadcasts. The integration respects user settings, such as hiding scores to prevent spoilers before a replay. Additionally, the CarPlay interface now supports audio scrubbing, allowing users to navigate through audio segments more efficiently while driving.
