MLB World Series features Mexican and Cuban baseball figures

Several figures with Mexican and Cuban ties are prominent in the upcoming Major League Baseball World Series.

Pitcher Manuel Rodríguez Caamal, known as ‘El Bolón’, is nearing a historic milestone. A former player for the Tuzos de Guanajuato in the Mexican Winter League, the Yucatecan right-hander has progressed through the ranks to potentially participate in the World Series following his team's American League championship victory. Although injuries impacted his season, his regular-season contributions have positioned him for a potential role in the postseason.

Umpire Alfonso Márquez, originally from Zacatecas, has been assigned a critical role in the World Series between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Milwaukee Brewers. Márquez will operate from the video review room, where he will make definitive decisions on disputed plays. This appointment follows a distinguished career in which he has officiated the World Series in 2006, 2011, 2015, 2021, and 2023.
