Mülheim an der Ruhr: Serious traffic accident on Velauer Straße

A serious traffic accident occurred on Velauer Straße in the Heißen district of Mülheim an der Ruhr on September 4, 2026, shortly before 6:00 PM. A truck and an oncoming passenger car collided head-on for reasons that remain unclear. The impact caused the passenger car to veer off the road into a field, while the truck subsequently grazed a second vehicle.

Emergency responders, including a rescue train, ambulances, and an emergency doctor vehicle, were dispatched to the scene. While most occupants were able to exit their vehicles before the fire department arrived, the driver of the first car had to be carefully extricated by firefighters. Both the driver and a passenger from that vehicle were treated by paramedics and transported to nearby hospitals.

The drivers of the truck and the second passenger car were evaluated by medical personnel but did not require treatment. Firefighters secured the site, ensured fire protection, and managed spilled fluids. The accident resulted in the closure of Velauer Straße in both directions for several hours during the emergency response and subsequent police investigation. A total of 16 firefighters and various police and medical personnel participated in the operation.
