Mélisa Godet film ‘La Maison des Femmes’ to release in Italy

The film ‘La Maison des Femmes’ (The House of Women), the directorial debut of Mélisa Godet, is scheduled for release in Italian theaters on October 29. The movie is inspired by the real-life Maison des Femmes in Saint-Denis, a support center near Paris dedicated to assisting women facing various forms of violence and hardship.

Starring Karin Viard as Dr. Diane Khoury, the film follows a diverse team of medical professionals, midwives, and social workers as they provide physical and psychological care to women. The production features a large ensemble cast, including 55 actresses, some of whom are non-professionals, to portray the multifaceted experiences of the patients and staff.

Following its success in France, where it drew significant interest, the film’s Italian release is supported by Amnesty International Italia. The narrative focuses on the process of reconstruction and dignity for survivors rather than the actions of their oppressors.
