MMRDA orders removal of unauthorized structure near Mumbai Airport

The Maharashtra Regional and Development Authority (MMRDA) has directed Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) to take action to remove an unauthorized mosque-like structure located near the VIP arrival and taxi stand area of Terminal 2 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

In a letter dated September 8, the MMRDA stated that no permission was issued for the structure and noted there is no provision or designation for a place of public worship within the notified area. BJP leader Kirit Somaiya, who had previously raised concerns regarding unauthorized construction on government land near the airport, called for the immediate demolition of the structure and requested that authorities register an FIR against those responsible.
