Mnangagwa pushes for local processing of Zimbabwe’s raw materials

President Emmerson Mnangagwa addressed the 132nd Ordinary Session of the ZANU PF Central Committee in Harare, emphasizing a strategic shift toward domestic mineral processing. He stated that Zimbabwe’s raw materials must be processed locally to support value addition, beneficiation, and employment creation, aiming to retain more economic value within the country.

Mnangagwa noted that the mining sector remains central to the government’s economic strategy, with increasing investment and exploration expected to bolster downstream industries. He linked the nation’s development to the pursuit of economic sovereignty and a resilient macro-economic environment.

During his address, the President also urged party leaders to ensure that political resolutions are translated into tangible results, stating, “Let our words be matched by action.” He expressed Zimbabwe’s readiness to deepen international cooperation regarding technology transfer, investment, and climate action, while calling for a fairer global order for the Global South.
