Münchener Verein named Insurer of the Year for 15th consecutive time

Münchener Verein has been named ‘Insurer of the Year 2026’ for the 15th consecutive time according to the consumer survey conducted by the German Institute for Service Quality (DISQ) and ntv. The insurer achieved a score of 78.5 points, earning a ‘good’ quality rating and placing ahead of HUK24 (77.3 points) and Württembergische (74.9 points).

Despite the continued dominance of Münchener Verein at the top, the broader insurance industry is facing a decline in customer satisfaction. The overall industry average fell to 69.9 points, a ‘satisfactory’ rating, continuing a downward trend from 73.6 points in 2023, 71.0 in 2024, and 70.4 in 2025. No provider achieved a ‘very good’ rating.

Key areas of dissatisfaction include price-performance ratios and claims processing. Approximately 27 percent of respondents who experienced a claim were dissatisfied with the settlement process. While product quality remains a strength with a 74.2 percent positive rating, DISQ Managing Director Bianca Möller noted that the industry needs to improve customer service and accessibility to prevent policyholders from switching providers due to rising premiums or slow claim settlements.
