MnDOT launches public study of I‑694 corridor in Minnesota

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has begun a long‑range planning study of Interstate 694 between Brooklyn Center and Arden Hills. The effort seeks input from residents, commuters, businesses and other road users through an online survey and a public meeting scheduled for August 12, 2026. The study will evaluate current traffic conditions, safety issues and non‑motorized accessibility, and will develop recommendations for short‑term improvements as well as larger projects such as a possible resurfacing in the early 2030s.

The corridor, which runs through Brooklyn Center, Fridley, Columbia Heights, New Brighton and Arden Hills, carries heavy daily traffic and experiences frequent congestion. MnDOT will also attend several community events in July and August to gather feedback. Responses will help shape future transportation investments over the next two decades.
