Mónica Juárez proposes psychological testing for high-ranking officials
Argentine provincial deputy Mónica Juárez has introduced a bill proposing mandatory psychological aptitude evaluations for high-ranking officials across the three branches of government. The initiative targets magistrates in the Judiciary, as well as authorities within the Executive and Legislative branches.
Juárez stated that the objective is not to judge political opinions or ideologies, but to ensure that individuals in positions of immense responsibility possess the necessary psychological fitness to make decisions affecting citizens' lives. She compared the proposal to the private sector, noting that many jobs require pre-employment psychological or physical exams.
The legislator emphasized that the project aims to avoid stigmatizing mental health by ensuring evaluations are conducted under professional criteria with strict guarantees of confidentiality and privacy. The bill must now undergo legislative debate to determine its scope, implementation mechanisms, and privacy protections.
