Mónica Villarreal Anaya expresses intent to seek reelection as Tampico Mayor

Tampico Mayor Mónica Villarreal Anaya has expressed her intention to seek reelection for the 2027-2030 term. Despite rumors regarding a potential leave of absence to participate in internal party processes for Morena, Villarreal Anaya remains in her position at the City Council.

Local reports indicate that while there was speculation about her requesting a license to pursue other political roles, such as a federal deputy position, she has maintained her leadership of the municipality. Villarreal Anaya stated her focus remains on her work and that the citizens of Tampico will ultimately decide her political future.

Separately, during a government event in Ciudad Victoria, Governor Américo Villarreal addressed rumors concerning the absence of his wife, María Santiago de Villarreal, the president of DIF Tamaulipas. The Governor denied claims that her reduced public presence is due to health issues, asserting that she is well.
