NAV appoints Mónika Rózsáné Sádt as new president

Finance Minister András Kármán has appointed Mónika Rózsáné Sádt as the new president of the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV). The decision follows a public tender process that received 49 applications. Rózsáné Sádt, who brings extensive international experience from her tenure at the DIAGEO Group, aims to build a modern, transparent, and professional tax authority.

Attila Sisák has been appointed as the new deputy president for criminal and law enforcement matters. Sisák has a background in combating tax fraud, money laundering, and organized crime, having previously worked with the police and the Ministry of Finance.

The Ministry of Finance stated that the new leadership's primary mission is to restore public trust and professional credibility to the NAV. The administration intends to move away from political influence, ensuring that the authority supports law-abiding taxpayers while strictly and consistently penalizing those who evade tax obligations.

Separately, the NAV has issued a warning regarding a phishing scam. Fraudsters are sending SMS messages claiming that a 102,000 HUF tax refund is available for the 2026 tax year. The authority emphasized that it never sends links via SMS or email for tax refunds or bank details, and urged citizens not to click on suspicious links.
