Münster launches winter emergency aid for homeless residents

The city of Münster is activating its winter emergency aid program to protect homeless and unsheltered individuals from life-threatening cold temperatures. Starting November 1, 70 additional sleeping spaces will be available in containers located at the Caspar-Hessel-Gelände on Albersloher Weg.

Staff from the Bischof-Herrmann-Stiftung and Caritas will manage the site, providing support and attempting to connect individuals with further social services. Social Department Head Cornelia Wilkens has urged citizens to report anyone seen sleeping outdoors in freezing temperatures to ensure help can be offered.

Additionally, the Bahnhofsmission in Münster continues to provide free food, serving approximately 200 people daily. Local organizations such as the Haus der Wohnungslosenhilfe and SkF are available to take calls for assistance.
