Münsterland burglary series leads to criminal trial
A 28-year-old man is facing trial at the Münster Regional Court starting August 26 for his alleged involvement in a series of burglaries across the Münsterland region. Prosecutors claim that between late January and mid-February 2026, the defendant, acting with at least two other individuals, committed eight residential burglaries, including two attempted thefts. The group reportedly operated out of Marl and Haltern am See, targeting single-family homes in Olfen, Selm, Billerbeck, Coesfeld, Dülmen, and Nottuln. The stolen cash and items are valued at approximately 28,000 euros.
In a separate matter in Bocholt, police have reported a rise in trick thefts. Criminals are reportedly using various pretexts, such as posing as utility workers or electricity meter readers, to gain access to private residences and steal valuables.
