Mönsterås man faces 20 additional charges for online crimes against children

A man in his 60s from Mönsterås municipality is facing additional charges for approximately 20 serious online crimes against children. The investigation, handled by the National Unit against International and Organized Crime, includes allegations of two aggravated rapes, child pornography offenses, and the aggravated exploitation of children for sexual posing.

The suspect has been held in custody at Sollentuna since January, when he was initially detained for nine offenses. The new charges involve crimes allegedly committed between 2021 and 2023 from the man's residence.

Investigators noted that many of the victims reside abroad, necessitating close cooperation with foreign authorities. While progress is being made through international channels, officials stated that the involvement of foreign agencies may extend the duration of the investigation.
