Romania reports multiple residential fires across several counties
Multiple residential fires have been reported across various regions in Romania, primarily caused by faulty heating systems or electrical issues.
In Suceava County, two significant incidents occurred: one in Bălăceana, where a house and an annex suffered roof damage due to sparks from a deteriorated chimney, and another in Lămășeni, where an 80-square-meter home was completely destroyed by a short circuit.
Other reported incidents include a fire in Ibăneasa, Botoșani, likely caused by a defective stove, and a blaze in Cazaci, Dâmbovița, which affected a 150-square-meter residence. In Mănăstireni, Botoșani, a fire caused by an electrical short circuit in a vehicle destroyed two cars but was contained before reaching the main house. Additionally, a fire in Novaci, Gorj, damaged approximately 100 square meters of a roof, suspected to be caused by an improperly insulated chimney.
Emergency services, including ISU detachments and SMURD teams, responded to these calls. Authorities are urging citizens to regularly inspect heating installations, chimneys, and electrical systems to prevent similar occurrences during the colder months.
