Mo Abudu demands respect from younger people regarding formal address

EbonyLife Group CEO Mo Abudu has stated that she expects younger individuals to address her with formal titles, such as ‘Aunty’, rather than using her first name. During an interview on ‘Toke Moments’ with Toke Makinwa, the 61-year-old media executive explained that her stance is rooted in her traditional upbringing by her grandmother in Ondo.

Abudu also addressed gender perceptions in the business world, suggesting that if she were a man, her leadership style would likely be described as ‘astute’ rather than being labeled a ‘shark’. Regarding her personal life, she noted that she is no longer concerned with heartbreak and expressed a preference for partners who are her age or older and have achieved significant success.

Her comments coincide with broader discussions regarding workplace etiquette, following a recent incident where UBA Group Chairman Tony Elumelu corrected a graduate trainee for addressing him by his first name instead of ‘Mr Elumelu’.
