Moana Surfrider completes major refurbishment of historic Waikiki hotel

The Moana Surfrider, the first luxury hotel on Honolulu’s Waikiki Beach, has completed a major refurbishment following its 125th anniversary. The renovation included refreshing all 791 guest rooms and updating the Victorian-era lobby.

The lobby updates introduced contemporary furnishings and local artwork while maintaining original features such as the sweeping staircase, timber floors, and imposing columns. The hotel's guest accommodations are divided into three distinct areas: the Tower Wing, which offers a luxury apartment atmosphere; the Surfrider Wing, featuring a beach-loft style; and the Banyan Wing, located in the original 1901 building.

A prominent feature of the property remains the large banyan tree in the beachfront courtyard, which was planted in 1904 and has grown to a width of 46 metres.
