Mobile gaming revenue reaches $6.6 billion in July

Global mobile game consumer spending reached $6.6 billion in July 2026, according to a report by Sensor Tower, representing an increase of nearly 8% from June. While Roblox was the most downloaded mobile game globally during the month, it does not necessarily lead in revenue generation.

On the Roblox platform, a discrepancy exists between player counts and earnings. For example, the anime fighting game Gakuran ranked as the top earner despite being only the 38th most-played game by concurrent users. In contrast, highly popular social games like Brookhaven saw massive player engagement but did not appear among the top 40 earning titles. The data suggests that anime, fighting, and RNG-based games drive higher monetization compared to casual social titles.

In the broader mobile market, Honor of Kings was the highest-grossing game in July, followed by Pokémon Go and Gossip Harbor. The report also highlighted a shift in monetization strategies, noting that titles like Monopoly Go are increasingly generating significant revenue through direct webstores rather than traditional app stores.
