Mobile health units expand specialized care across Brazil

Mobile health units are being deployed across various Brazilian municipalities to expand access to specialized medical services under the ‘Agora Tem Especialistas’ program. These units aim to reduce waiting times and address unmet medical demands through targeted care.

In Mato Grosso do Sul, the State Health Secretariat (SES) has scheduled mobile units to provide women's health services, diagnostic imaging, and ophthalmological procedures across 16 cities through March 2027. The ophthalmology program includes consultations and surgeries in cities such as Itaporã, Corumbá, and Campo Grande, while women's health services are set to begin in Dourados in September.

In other regions, the Ministry of Health is utilizing mobile units to support the Unified Health System (SUS). In Eunápolis, a unit serves eight surrounding municipalities, offering mammographies, pelvic ultrasounds, biopsies, and specialist consultations to facilitate the early diagnosis of breast and cervical cancers. Similarly, units in Camaçari are expanding specialized care to multiple regional municipalities.
