Mobile network evolution from 5G to 6G

Mobile network technologies continue to evolve, moving from the current 5G standard toward the development of 6G. 5G technology provides higher speeds, lower latency, and greater capacity than 4G, supporting modern needs such as high-quality video streaming, online gaming, and the expansion of the Internet of Things (IoT).

While there is a common perception that 5G significantly drains smartphone battery life, other digital activities like social media scrolling and dating apps are often major contributors to battery consumption.

The upcoming 6G generation is expected to offer transformative improvements, including speeds potentially reaching 1 terabit per second—roughly 100 times faster than 5G. 6G aims to reduce latency to approximately 1 millisecond and support up to 10 million connected devices per square kilometer. This advancement is intended to integrate with artificial intelligence, big data, and blockchain to enable critical applications in remote surgery, smart cities, and industrial automation, while also focusing on improved energy efficiency.
