Massachusetts launches E-Vive app to combat gambling addiction

Massachusetts has launched a new free mobile application, E-Vive, designed to support individuals vulnerable to gambling addiction. The app serves as a digital complement to the state’s existing 24/7 multilingual helpline.

Victor Ortiz, director for the Office of Problem Gambling, noted that the initiative aims to match the technological shift from brick-and-mortar casinos to 24/7 mobile access. The E-Vive app, currently available in English on iOS and Android, provides features such as daily check-ins, podcasts, peer support groups, and various recovery resources.

The launch follows a class action lawsuit against DraftKings, which alleges the company has utilized artificial intelligence to target vulnerable individuals for irresponsible gambling.
