Mobile software updates bring professional camera tools to iOS and manual stacking to Google Photos

New software developments are enhancing mobile photography and organization. Code found in the iOS 27 beta suggests Apple may introduce professional-grade camera tools directly into the iPhone Camera app. These potential features include a histogram to monitor light distribution, waveform displays, zebra patterns to warn of overexposure, and true manual focus controls via a slider.

Separately, Google Photos has expanded its manual photo stacking capability to Android devices. Previously exclusive to iOS, this feature allows users to manually group similar images into stacks to maintain a more organized library. The rollout appears to be server-side, meaning availability may vary across different Android devices such as Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel models.
