Bandai Namco unveils Gundam RG XARX‑ZERO anime and Gundam Rogue Orbit game for 2027

Bandai Namco Filmworks announced at San Diego Comic‑Con 2026 a new multimedia initiative called the RG Project. The project links a forthcoming anime, Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX‑ZERO, scheduled for a 2027 release and produced by SOLA Animation, with an action‑oriented video game, Gundam Rogue Orbit, also due in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Both works are set in a brand‑new timeline named “After Apocalypse” (A.A.). Humanity receives three breakthrough technologies—gravity control, faster‑than‑light communication and cognitive materialisation—from an alien interstellar object. Within a decade the object becomes uncontrollable, spawning a hostile, self‑replicating ecosystem dubbed the “Apocalypse”. The ensuing three‑month conflict forces humanity to abandon Earth and mark the year A.A. 1. The anime, a prequel set about a century earlier, follows war‑orphan Ray Azumi, the pilot of Gundam ZERO. The game focuses on RE‑X piloting the Gundam Helix.

Key staff include director and series composer Kenji Kamiyama, SF‑setting supervisor Toh Enjoe, Gundam designer Eiichi Shimizu, and composer Go Shiina. The announcement also revealed exclusive Gunpla kits (HG 1/144 Gundam Helix and a collector’s‑edition ARK‑10 variant) and a promotional Gundam Card Game card, underscoring the cross‑media strategy.
