Mobile technologies emerge for on-demand vehicle maintenance and roadside assistance

New technological developments are emerging to provide on-demand automotive services through mobile platforms and specialized systems.

Researchers at Chandigarh University have been granted a patent for a ‘Vehicle Maintenance System’. Led by Professor Payal Patial, the team developed a mobile system capable of performing diagnostics, engine and brake oil replacement, wheel alignment, hydraulic lifting, and washing directly at a customer’s location. The system aims to reduce wait times at traditional service centers and support smart mobility ecosystems.

In Ghana, a new digital platform called AutoPadi has launched to connect vehicle owners with verified mechanics. The mobile application is designed to assist motorists during breakdowns by providing immediate access to a network of vetted automotive professionals. Co-founder Edmund Tekpenor stated the platform aims to provide peace of mind and increase visibility for skilled mechanics through a reliable digital marketplace.
