Vipps MobilePay to rebrand MobilePay across the Nordics
Vipps MobilePay is undergoing a major rebranding to unify its presence across the Nordic region. The mobile payment service, which operates in Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Greenland, will transition from the MobilePay name to Vipps.
The transition will occur in two stages. Starting October 6, the app icon will change to a blue smiley face in Denmark and Finland to begin the visual shift. The official name change to Vipps will take effect on January 12. While the branding is changing, the app's functionality, user data, and core services will remain the same, and no action is required from users.
To maintain local recognition, the app will retain its blue color scheme in Denmark and Finland, while remaining orange in Norway and Sweden. The move aims to create a single, strong Nordic brand to better compete with global financial technology companies. The company, backed by Danske Bank and DNB, currently serves approximately 13 million users.
