Mobilint develops on-device AI computing platform for humanoids
AI semiconductor company Mobilint has announced the development of an on-device AI computing platform designed specifically for humanoid robots. The platform aims to enable the simultaneous execution of multiple AI functions—such as Vision-Language Models (VLM) for environmental perception and Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models for behavioral connection—while directly linking AI decisions to physical robot control.
Unlike data center environments, humanoid robots require efficient power and heat management due to limited battery life and space. Mobilint is integrating Neural Processing Units (NPU), accelerator modules, and specialized software into a single platform to reduce the integration burden for robot manufacturers. The project focuses on ensuring low latency between sensor input, AI judgment, and mechanical movement.
The development is part of the ‘K-On-Device AI Semiconductor Technology Development Project’ led by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology. Mobilint plans to verify the platform's stability, power consumption, and reliability under vibration and impact by linking it with LG Electronics' humanoid system environments. The company intends to expand this technology beyond humanoids to service robots, autonomous mobile robots (AMR), and smart appliances.
