Mobilint to develop on-device AI chips with LG and Doosan

AI semiconductor startup Mobilint has joined four major projects under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s ‘K-on-device AI Semiconductor Technology Development Project’. The initiative involves collaborating with major demand companies to develop and verify AI chips specifically tailored for robots and home appliances.

Mobilint will lead the AI semiconductor development for several key applications: LG Electronics’ humanoid robots, Doosan Robotics’ collaborative robots, and Daedong’s unmanned agricultural robots. Additionally, Mobilint will act as a joint research and development partner with LG Electronics to implement on-device AI technology for the ‘AI Home’ sector, focusing on efficient AI execution within household appliances.

Unlike traditional methods where chips are developed first and then marketed, this project follows a structure where demand companies provide specific requirements, and Mobilint develops and verifies the chips within the actual device environment. This approach aims to secure commercialization foundations for ‘physical AI’—technology that allows AI to perceive surroundings and execute precise physical movements.
