Mobility projects win awards in Spain while cycling gains financial appeal in Chile

In Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Spain, the CDPEE Virgen del Pilar special education school has won a prize in the ‘Ponte en Marcha’ competition organized by the Junta de Andalucía. Their project, titled ‘Sin barreras, llegamos donde quieras’, focuses on barrier-free mobility, highlighting how infrastructure like sidewalks and public transport stops can hinder movement for people with disabilities.

In Santiago, Chile, rising public transport costs are driving interest in cycling as a financial alternative. With bus and metro fares reaching up to $895 CLP, monthly commuting costs can exceed $38,000 CLP. Analysis suggests that purchasing a bicycle can serve as a self-paying investment, especially when utilizing seasonal discounts.
