Mobility transitions discussed in Canary Islands and Mexico
In the Canary Islands, representatives from Hyundai Canarias and Moeve discussed the transition toward new mobility and decarbonization during a forum. Moeve is focusing on green hydrogen and second-generation biofuels as alternatives for sectors that are difficult to electrify. Hyundai Canarias aims for carbon neutrality by 2045, utilizing renewable energy in its factories and offering various electrification technologies, including hydrogen fuel cells like the Hyundai Nexo.
In Morelia, Mexico, DiDi has integrated into the local mobility landscape since 2022. The platform currently serves over 70,000 passengers and connects more than 3,000 drivers monthly. The service aims to complement existing public transport systems, providing a technological link to facilitate urban travel for students, workers, and daily commuters.
