Moca residents demand action following frequent nighttime shootings
Residents in Moca, Espaillat province, are expressing growing concern over frequent nighttime shootings occurring in various neighborhoods. Affected sectors include José María Rodríguez, Las Flores, López III, La Chancleta, and Quebrada Honda.
Social activist Juan ‘Guanchy’ Comprés has called upon the Espaillat Public Ministry and the National Police to intervene. He urged authorities to strengthen preventive measures and intelligence efforts to identify those responsible and prevent the violence from becoming normalized. Comprés noted that recent gunfire was heard on Duarte Street in the José María Rodríguez sector and warned that authorities must act to prevent fatalities, recalling a past incident in Moca that claimed the lives of a man and a child.
Local residents report that the insecurity has altered community dynamics, with many people choosing to remain inside their homes from early evening to avoid the violence.
