Läkarförbundet faces mounting losses on Gothenburg property

The Swedish Medical Association (Läkarförbundet) is facing ongoing financial losses regarding its four-story property located on Lennart Torstenssonsgatan in central Gothenburg. The property has been losing money for several years, with losses expected to increase by an additional 2 million SEK this year.

While external assessments have recommended an immediate sale to mitigate economic impact, the association's board has not yet reached a decision. Elin Karlsson, the association's first vice president, noted that decisions regarding property holdings must be handled carefully to ensure the best possible economic results.

Concerns regarding the relocation of the West Götaland Medical Association (VGLF), which currently resides in the building, have been addressed. Emelie Hultberg, chair of VGLF, confirmed that the organization will move to new premises on Götgatan before Christmas, resolving the primary argument against selling the property.
