Modders successfully port GTA V to run natively on Nintendo Switch
A group of modders known as Paralympics Productions has successfully achieved a native port of Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) for the original Nintendo Switch. This achievement was made possible by utilizing leaked source code from 2023, allowing the team to reverse-engineer the game's logic and recompile it for the ARM architecture used by the console's Tegra X1 chip.
Unlike traditional methods that rely on emulators or Android compatibility layers, this version runs directly on the hardware. However, due to the console's hardware limitations, the game runs at a variable frame rate of 10 to 25 FPS under standard settings. To reach a more stable 30 FPS, users must use a jailbroken console and overclock the CPU, GPU, and RAM.
The development team has already released several patches to improve stability and is reportedly working on a native Android version of the game to allow it to run directly on mobile hardware without emulation.
